We need to be exposed to alternate ways of thinking about systems and society – capitalism isn’t the end all be all, you don’t “own” “your” land, etc. This course not only wants its students to think about their design in terms of whole system, but it also introduces students to pressing issues that need to resolved like climate change, decolonization, white privilege, that should be deal with every single day but aren’t. This course also shakes out our euro/amerocentric world view.
Please note: this student was one of our first graduates, before we had the Design Studio and Design Project Template, and also before we started requiring a presentation video from all students.
